Kyleen King, Intern

Kyleen (she/her) has been a professional musician for 24 years. She is particularly interested in working with creatives and/or those who struggle with anxiety, depression, precarious employment, addiction, and identity issues. She is also interested in serving those who have experienced trauma, attachment, and relational issues. Fostering trust in the therapeutic relationship and creating a non-judgmental, supportive, and empowering environment for clients is deeply important to her. She works with clients to determine how larger issues create personal problems, identify strengths and resources, and create a treatment plan that centers their needs and ideas.

Kyleen is working towards a master’s degree in social work at Boise State University. She completed her BSW at Portland State University in June 2024. During her undergraduate program, she interned at Thriving Roots Counseling as an Administrative Assistant in which she co-facilitated a support group for musicians. She is Chair of the Mental Health Committee for Portland’s Local 99 Musician’s Union and is a passionate advocate for creative artists, an improved social safety net, and accessible mental health services/resources for all human beings.
