Menachem Markowitz Santos, MS, MHP, LMHC

Hi, I’m Menachem Markowitz Santos (they/them)!

I am an immigrant, genderqueer (pronouns: they/them/theirs) trans-identified therapist with an intersectional identity and love of life. Growing up in a home with multiple different cultures allowed me to see life and learning from different perspectives and gain appreciation for the beautiful differences in all of us. In addition, being the only trans-identified therapist at the beginning of my career at different organizations, allowed me to understand the ways therapy can help those with marginalized identities find resilience and strength while navigating complicated systems.

I love that therapy can help in personal and spiritual liberation for those of us who are often led to believe that it is our identities and the things that make us different that cause our problems. I love to watch people learn and grow in boundaries, self-care and resilience in the therapeutic process. To watch people drop what feels inauthentic and oppressive and inhabit their true selves fully as a practice is an honor and drives my passion to continue to learn and grow for my clients. Ultimately, my favorite day in practice is the one when my clients tell me they don't need my help anymore.

I have over 5 years of experience in providing psychotherapy and clinical supervision in a community mental health setting, primary care settings, and 4 additional years experience in private practice. I specialize in open and affirming care for folks who want to focus on depression, anxiety, trauma-based mental health concerns, bi-cultural stress, coping with oppressive systems in the world, grief and loss, sex and sexuality, coping with chronic illness and pain, and stress/life transitions.

When not practicing therapy you can find me at a Shabbat dinner eating or cooking food, going on long city walks, listening to music and playing my ukulele.

Specialty: LGBTQIA+ community ages 18-65, especially those who are also first generation or immigrant identified,  and nonbinary, transgender, relationship expansive, polyamorous, kink and BDSM communities

I am best for people who: are seeking to find serenity and integration of all their emotions and identities.
