Jess Brown, LMFTA, CHMS

Jess Brown (they/them) offers empathetic, gender-affirming,  trauma-informed, creative therapy for queer and/or transgender clients, from ages 3 yo-adulthood and family members of LGTBQIA+ people. Their therapeutic approach is influenced by trauma-informed care, previous experience community mental health, a grief and loss counseling center and trainings and study in Child Centered Play Therapy, TF-CBT (Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and systemic theory, specifically Symbolic Experiential Psychotherapy and Existential Psychotherapy. Jess received their Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, currently pursuing advanced training in Play Therapy and Child Centered Play Therapy.

Jess seeks to create an open and non-judgmental space and honors the bravery and courage undertaking a therapeutic relationship entails. Through this co-created relationship, whether it be through play with a young child or talk therapy with an adult, Jess facilitates  effectively identifying the core issues keeping people feeling stuck in their lives or with their relationships. They are a fierce advocate for their clients and the capacity for self-healing. Jess endeavors to be a resource for clients and offers their services as a tool to augment their lives for greater authenticity, autonomy and self-worth.

In their free time, they enjoy exploring the beautiful PNW, as an expat from wanderlust.  They love to camp and be outdoors, creating things (especially knitting, art, and play therapy supplies), reading and exploring new places. Jess calls Washington home but part of them is still deep in the heart of Texas.
